It was great to see so many people at the party/meeting on Saturday night – over 70, and probably more even than at last month’s event. Many of them had not been to the previous meetings and were not yet on on our contact email list which suggests a growing number of people interested in the future of the pub. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on the night, which was great.
In the meeting part of the evening, the steering group circulated and discussed its latest report on the possibility of the village taking over the pub if no-one else comes forward. A copy of the report can be downloaded from the link on the ‘documents and resources’ section of this website.
There is also there a copy of the questionnaire which we are asking people to fill in and return. Please either print it out, fill it in and drop it at 6 St Peter’s Close. Or fill it in on screen and email it back to us on froth@charsfield.org.uk. Or, it if it is easier, don’t worry about the actual questionnaire form itself and just put your answers in an email to froth@charsfield.org.uk.
Please read the report before you fill in the questionnaire. We hope it provides enough information for everyone to give an initial indication of whether they would be willing to invest to help get the pub going again, and how much. If you have further, specific, questions that you want answering before you complete the questionnaire, then do please email us and we will try and answer them.
Although people at the meeting on Saturday had not yet had a chance to read the report, the discussions afterwards and on into the evening suggested that a lot of people could well be willing to help support the pub in this way. They included people who have not been great users of the pub in the past for whatever reason. Some of those people don’t even necessarily want to use the pub more than occasionally in the future, but they want there to be a thriving pub in the village because that is important to village life, or perhaps they simply realise that having a thriving pub in the village makes their own house more valuable!
Anyway, the steering group really hopes that as many people as possible will complete and return the questionnaire (by the first week of August if possible please) so that we can see where to take things next.
And don’t forget the next party/meeting is on Saturday 20 August in the Village Hall – see you there!
